We had a great time with a lovely team (Ruth, Roberto, Xiomara, Ismael, Isam) for the closing party for Migration Matters. We were so tempted to join in with the music instead of heading back to wash up - brill photo Jack Owen!
We love welcoming all comers to our free weekly social on Mondays from 10am to 2pm in St Andrew's URC church hall.
It's a time to share a cuppa, help out, play table tennis, prepare and enjoy a freshly cooked meal together at 12:30pm. Great donations from Beanies Wholefoods & The bhaji shop plus a wonderful variety of cooking styles On 13 June 2022, the classic Chinese dish, Kung Po Chicken (aubergine for vegetarians), which is a perfect combination of savoury, sweet, tangy flavours with a hint of heat was served at OKSC.
Photos from 17 March 2022. The group of us works like a well-oiled machine now! Japanese curry chicken (and a vegetarian version) this time with paprika roasted potatoes, roast sweet potatoes with chilli flakes, roast mushrooms with mixed dried herbs, and stir-fried tenderstem broccoli with minced garlic+ginger, leak, and star anise, and 2 salads!
Photos from 30 April 2022. Probably the dish with the best response since the Taiwan team got involved- sweet and sour chicken drumsticks! We conjured up something so wonderful that there was hardly any left-overs!
OKSC was serving coca-cola teriyaki chicken wings today, love the beautiful amber glaze and of course, the wings are lip-smacking and finger-licking good. Hope those who were here today enjoyed it! (vegetable curry for vegetarians too!)
Part of celebration refugees week, we cater for Refugee right at Sheffield Hallam University today for 250 people.
Our colourful nutritious food was part of the celebration, lots of lovely and positive comments. We enjoyed watching and listening to the South African Flame Lily group, as well Sheffield's One World Choir. Here's our Lads Team, they cooked up a fantastic feast for Migration Matters' opening night: Ken, Firas Sharefy , Iannes Bitt, Mikeyas & Kazam.
We are getting excited about this year's Migration Matters festival at Sidney + Matilda. Gluten free, vegan food at the opening party tomorrow night & also for their big beautiful closing party.
The lovely Ellen Beardmore splashed us over a 2 page spread in the Sheffield Star newspaper yesterday - Good Times! |
